Coach Alan

Alan Anderson bought a used Kayak in 1983 and started entering local races in the Puget Sound area. While winning most of the low key sea kayak races in the area he became enthralled with the sport while watching the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. With the Olympic dream firmly entrenched in his mind he spent the next four years training for the 1988 Olympic team. This goal was not to be. Starting an Olympic dream at 28 years old was too much to ask for and having no organized coaching in the Northwest compounded the task.

After taking a few years off with his young family, he came back to the sport in 2002 when he created the Gig Harbor Team.  Alan's intent now, is building a program for young athletes to pursue their own dreams.

Note:  Alan has just been awarded by the USACK Organization, Volunteer Coach of the Year. Please see the full story at USACK .
